New Railroad Infrastructure: Materiality and Sociality
This component concentrates on the village Nizhniy Bestyakh-the current terminus of the Amur-Yakutsk Railroad (AYaM)-in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). The project explores the anticipation of a new railroad, the politically planned but unpredictable boom of the village to become a town and, the un/intended consequences of infrastructures. This case study helps to understand images of future(s), temporality and human engagement with a changing material and social environment.
